I was one of the lucky ones last week to attend Taylor Bennett’s sold out show in London, that was a part of his tour “Restoration Of An American Idol”. For those who are still not familiar with this name – Taylor is a younger brother of a talented Chance The Rapper. However, it would be wrong to define Taylor only as a brother of the famous artist. He totally smashed his performance at Omeara, beautiful venue near London Bridge and is on the way to stardom in his own rights.

The evening started with the official Taylor’s official DJ playing some tunes and engaging with the public. I have to admit, I was a bit late so I didn’t get a chance to hear his name. But after a short research I discovered that Taylor’s official DJ for UK tour is DJ Boy Scattrel. Anyway, I have to say I was completely impressed how well DJ Scattrel did this job. Usually, DJ’s just play the set. This one was not only playing but also chatting with the public, asking questions, teasing a bit. He even organised small competition. Before Taylor Bennett took the stage, his DJ even played some nineties hits including “This Is How We Do It”, theme from “Fresh Prince Of Bell Air”. Even though most people in the public were very young, they knew all words and sang together.

Taylor Bennett is pretty new name in UK. However, he has many loyal fans already. Omeara venue was full and the show was totally sold out. 21 years old independent artist from Chicago already found his way to the hearts. And no surprise. Though some critics say that rapper’s music reminds the beats of his older brother “Chance The Rapper”, I felt that he introduced some fresh beats and interesting lyrical style. I and the other fans enjoyed Taylor’s songs like “Wasting Time”, “Restoration Of An American Idol” and some others.

One thing I was surprised a bit about was that the show started pretty early and finished early too. It gave me an opportunity to have a walk alongside the river and enjoy beautiful evening after an amazing gig. I have a new favourite rapper.

Check Taylor Bennett’s twitter for the news about the upcoming shows and new music.
