The live gig is always a good idea for spending evening. And an even better idea is to attend the launch party of a single or an album. It’s an opportunity to hear the new music before most of the people. So when I was invited to attend Jordan Rakei’s album launch party hosted by “This Is Wired”, I immediately RSVPed “yes”.
Today after work I took the tube to the Shoreditch, wandering a bit around and found the place called “The Curtain”. After checking in at the reception I was directed to the lift and told to go to the basement, floor -3. I was curious and impressed. The place was small but quite intimate. And of course full of people. Many industry people attended the launch party of a talented Jordan Rakei.
The artist took the stage almost immediately. Extremely talented multi-instrumentalist performed the songs from the upcoming album as well as couple old and well-known songs. As I listen to Jordan the first time, all the songs were new for me. And after the gig I have to admit, it is difficult to decide which song I liked most. I enjoyed every minute. every sound. Jordan Rakei’s soulful chill-out music with jazz bits full-filled the place. People listened intently. Soon, they started dancing and by the end of the evening, they were singing with Jordan too. It was clear that Jordan conquered everyone’s hearts. I haven’t seen so much attention for the singer for a while.
