Wednesday night I attended Vashi diamond masterclass where I learned not just about diamonds but also found out few very useful tips how to select great diamonds and also how to differentiate real diamond from fake. Night was very informative and also great fun.
I would like to share with you some of the tips I found out. We were explained about 4 C’s – carat, cut, clarity and colour. One carat is equal to 0.20 grams. According to the Gemmology Institute of America only one in 1,000 diamonds weighs more than a carat. Rarity means larger diamonds of the same quality are worth more per carat. Cut (proportions, symmetry, and polish) is a measure of how a diamond’s facets interact with light. Clarity grades assess the number, size, relief, and position of inclusions and blemishes. The less colour, the higher the grade. Even the slightest hint can make a dramatic difference in value.
